RECEIVING COMMENTS ON NON NUOC CAO BANG GEOPARK TERRITORY EXTENSION DOSSIER

On November 2nd, 2020, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp in association with Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources held a meeting to receive comments of Cao Bang City People’s Committee, related departments and districts on the dossier of area extension of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp.

The meeting was attended by representative leaders of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Finance, Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Transport, Department of Construction, Cao Bang City People’s Committee, districts of Hoa An, Thach An, and Quang Hoa, Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp Management Board and consultants.
At the meeting, Mr. Tran Tan Van, Professor, Ph.D. - Director of Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources explained the contents of the Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp’s area extension dossier and the importance of expanding Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp territory covering Cao Bang city and part of the districts of Hoa An, Quang Hoa and Thach An. The purpose of the extension is to add Cao Bang city into the geopark area, which will be the basis for the proposal to develop a tourism user fee collection scheme and play an important role in improving the quality of tourism services in Cao Bang in general and in the geopark area in particular.
At the meeting, the representatives of Cao Bang City People's Committee    and the districts related to area extension project discussed and gave comments to the dossier of geopark’s territory extension. The delegates all agreed with the proposal to expand the territory of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp. Based on the comments of Cao Bang City People's Committee, related departments and districts, Cao Bang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will finalize and submit the dossier to the Provincial People's Committee for approval before submitting it to UNESCO through Viet Nam National Commission for UNESCO.
Before the meeting, Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp Management Board cooperated with the consultants - Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, and UNESCO expert to prepare the dossier and necessary documents to send to Cao Bang City People's Committee and related districts for official comments in written form.
