On July 2nd, 2021, the Management Board of Non nuoc Cao Bang cooperated with the People’s Committee of Nguyen Binh District and the People’s Committee of Quang Thanh Commune to conduct a survey in Hoai Khao village, Quang Thanh commune, Nguyen Binh and proposed issues related to sustainable tourism development on the basis of UNESCO Global Geopark.

Hoai Khao is a village with well-preserved traditional cultural identity and exeptional natural landscapes. Hoai Khao village consists of 34 households, 100% of them are Dao Tien ethnic group. Currently, Nguyen Binh District has been carrying out a breakthrough program on transforming Hoai Khoai village into a community-based tourism village of Dao ethnic people. Til now, some construction schemes have beeninvested by the Authorities Cao Bang province and Nguyen Binh district, including: connection road, initially investment on accommodation services, parking arrea, exhibition houses, public restroom… Realizing potential of Hoai Khao, the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp has studied and proprosed to cooperate with Nguyen Binh district to implement some supporting activities to develop Hoai Khao to ăn environmentally friendly tourism destination, create livelihood for local people, and connect Hoai Khao with tourism destinations in experience routes of Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark.

After surveying, the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp, the People’s Committees of Nguyen Binh District, Quang Thanh Commune and representatives of Hoai Khao villages discussed and evaluated the current conditions and required tasks regarding sustainable tourism development on the basis of UNESCO Global Geopark in Hoai Khao village.

Speaking at the meeting session, Mr. Nong Quoc Hung, Nguyen Binh District Party Committee Secretary affirmed the district’s commitment to the sustainable tourism development in Hoai Khao including electricity and clean water supply, establishing specialized groups..., he also expected that the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to support Hoai Khao village in decorating homestays, skill training on tourism services, tourism promotion...

After the discussion, the Management board of Non nuoc Cao Bang UGGp, the People’s Committee of Nguyen Binh District, the People’s Committee of Quang Thanh Commune and Hoai Khao villagers agreed on the tasks regarding participatory destination management, developing tourism products, landscaping, developing environmentally friendly agricultural products, localisation of food production, skill training on tourism services, and tourism promotion.
